Apple recently released its latest update for its Apple Watch, bringing a few handy updates users have been waiting for.
The software is the fifth major update Apple’s provided for free to Apple Watch owners since releasing WatchOS 8.
- With Watch OS 8.5, wearers will have improved heart rhythm detection for atrial fibrillation which is an indication of risk for strokes. CNET Reports that this is the most common type of irregular heartbeat, which can indicate major risks for stroke. The new detection software is available in the United States, Chile, Hong Kong, South Africa and, Apple says, “many more regions where the feature is available.”
- To make its Apple Fitness Plus program more inclusive, the tech giant has now also incorporated features that will aid those with disabilities. Aside from things like wheelchair workout detection, the service will now also have optional audio commentary that will describe workouts for the visually impaired.
- WatchOS 8.5 users will also be able to authorize purchases of TV episodes and movies through its Apple TV iTunes Store service.
Finally, for those traveling to Europe, the Apple Watch now supports the EU Digital COVID Certificate, allowing you to have your vaccination card on you conveniently at all times.
